Conor Benn scored the light belt holder Shakur Stevenson on social media today and asked him if he wants “Do it next.” The former three-division world champion and the Olympic silver medalist 2016 Stevenson (23: 0, 11 KOS) recently stated that he would fight him at 154.
Benn (23-1, 14 Kos) is now asking Shakur to secure his words and agree to meet him. He does not say whether he wants the Newark, New Jersey, Stevenson steps for the fight up to 154 or meets him at 147. After rehydrating for his lightweight struggles, he looks like a world weight in the ring. So he should be able to fight Conor with 147 very easily.
“You want to do it next, Shakur Stevenson? Let us run. Not a cheap conversation,Conor Benn said Social mediaCall WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson for a fight.
“Tank” Davis next? Or instead Benn?
The unbeaten Shakur has planned a fight for July 12 against William Zepeda in New York. This is a struggle that Stevenson hopes he will be the goal to bring him a lucrative agreement against the WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. It couldn’t be.
If Shakur cannot get the tank combat, he has only a few options for big pay days at 135. To continue to get good money, he is expected to fight someone who wants to see fans fight against him. In this case, Conor Benn Shakurs could be the best option. He can pull Benn back to 147 or push for a operating weight of 143 or 144 to give a slight disability, as received by the one Conor that lost to Chris Euben Jr.
If Shakur does not take this fight with Benn, he could defend his WBC lightweight against one of these risky candidates:
– Andy Cruz – classified in 1st place with the WBC
– Abdullah Mason
– Raymond Muratalla
– Jadier Herrera
– Floyd Schofield
These are all hard outs for Shakur because they have power and / or skills. His stock would be bad if he fights against these boys against fear. Stevenson cannot do that and he cannot take over another one Josh Padley-Aro of the type without destroying his career. That was a stupid move von Shakur to agree to the idea of fighting the electrician Padley in his last fight on February 22nd. He and his promoter Eddie Hearn did not consider the counter reaction to fight a partially fighter like Padley.
