Will the six -division world champion Manny ‘Pac Man’ Pacquiao with 46 break the former heavyweight champion ‘Big’ George Foreman’s record of winning the world championship title at the age of 45?

The current WBC World Welterweight Champion Mario ‘El Azteca’ Barrios, 29-2-1, from San Antonio, Texas, negotiated a title defense against Pacquiao in June or July.

Barrios had his last defense in November 2024 and ended with Abel Ramos, 28-6-2, in the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas. It was also the previous fight for Ramos. What seemed like a reason for a reservator did not develop.

Pacquiao’s last fight was in August 2021 and lost to Yordenis Ugas (26-4) in the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. In September 2023, Ugas lost to Barrios for the WBC Interim World Welterweight title in the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Foreman, then 72-4, still holds the record as the oldest to win a world championship title at the age of 45, and excludes the IBF world champion in the heavyweight Michael ‘Double M’ Moorer with 35: 0 in the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The only other boxer who won a world championship title with 40 or more was ‘Ruby’ Bob Fitzsimmons at the age of 40.

Will the ‘PAC -MANN’ become the third to not just win a world championship title over 40, but with 46 elders?
