Zepeda Challenges Stevenson To Stand And Fight, Hearn Pushes For Ring Title On July 12th

At the Kickoff press conference in New York today, William Zepeda said that he would like to see whether Shakur Stevenson will support his words of standing and on July 12th in the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens. The unbeaten Zepeda (33-0, 27 Kos) says that he expected Stevenson (23-0, 11 Kos) to fall back on the boxing, as he always does instead of standing and swallowing.

Shakurs Promoter, Eddie Hearn, said that he wanted the Ring Lightweight title for the Stevenson Sepeda fight and makes the winner the “King of Division”.

“The man to my left, if he were from Great Britain, he would be what we call an absolute treasure. He would be a superstar” Eddie Hearn Shakur Stevenson spoke during today’s press conference. “He should not only be a superstar of boxing, but also a superstar of American sport. He is 27 years old, a world champion with three divisions, and he never sweat.”

The reason why Shakur is not a superstar is:

1. Boring combat style: Stevenson is a runner.
2. Weak curriculum vitae: his victories at 126 and 130 were against fewer fighters, many of them sweat. At 135, Shakur started terribly against Edwin de Los Santos, the only reasonably decent fighter with whom he was faced in this weight class. Fans routinely drill his battles and many of them roar halfway.
3. Not ready to take risks when they are called.
4. Call to be protected by his organizer

“Eric Gomez [of Golden Boy] Said it right when he compares him to Floyd Mayweather. I also used it with people like Sugar Ray Leonard, Pernell Whitaker. As good as this man [Stevenson] is, ”drove with his glazing from Shakur.“ But you need a big opponent for the size, and this is William Zepeda. Zepeda: Stand and fight

“I think on July 12th the world will know who William Zepeda is,” said Zepeda. “I don’t care what Eddie says. I hope Shakur does what he says, he will be and standing and fighting. Shakur says he will stand and fight, let us stand and fight. We have a plan A and a plan B. he says he will stand with me and fight with me, but he will go back to the box.”

“I come to achieve a performance. I come in there to achieve the best performance of my career,” said Shakur. “He can’t do anything else. He comes in to throw as many blows as possible and make me tired. He will have the best version of Shakur Stevenson.

“I don’t sleep on William Zepeda. I have to lock myself up and step on him. I have to do that,” said Shakur.

“I want to be known as a Mexican legend,” said Zepeda.

“It can’t be. Of course I want the tank fight, but if I don’t come past Zepeda, there is no tank fight,” said Shakur.

“I come out to go to his A **,” said Shakur Stevenson about his prediction for his fight against William Zepeda.

“I have to prepare a million percent. I have to try to stop this fight,” said Zepeda.
