When the poor exposed the corruption of the palace
In a long time, a poor young man who did not learn a craft lived and inherited from his father except the need, and after the death of his father, who was working on a farm, the young man began to move between the cities in search of an opportunity to live. While he is in one of the cities and was exhausted by thirst, he heard a caller knocking on the bells and announced that the king’s ring was lost, and that a great reward is waiting for someone to find. As soon as the young man drank the last drop of water in his closeness, his eyes glimpsed something shining from under the dirt … it was the ring!
The young man rejoiced a lot, and he rushed towards the king’s palace to restore the ring, but the surprises started at the garden gate, where the guard and his demanded to pay a bribe for traffic. The young man tried to persuade him that he had nothing, and that he was carrying the king’s ring, but the guard did not care. The young man was forced to promise him half the award in exchange for allowing him to enter. The same story was repeated with the guard at the door of the palace, then with the third guard in front of the king’s room. Each of them agreed to enter it for half of the prize … and they did not realize that the greed would sign them in a strange trap.
The young man entered the king, and was overwhelmed by joy to see his lost ring. The king asked him:
– What do you ask for a reward for you?
The young man answered him steadily:
– I ask for a hundred lashes to leverage with a stick!
The king was shocked, and said:
– Why? I did good, no guilt I committed!
The young man told him his story with the three guards, and how each of them asked for half of the prize.
The king laughed and said:
– What is more severely deceived when he thinks that he is the winner, but the truth is always exposed!
The king ordered that the young man be given fifty lashes, then fifty others distributed to the three guards – as the young man “promised” them – so each guard was rewarded! After that, the king said:
– I have another prize, because you did not return the ring only, but it revealed corruption in my shortcomings.
Thus, the king rewarded him with great gifts, so the young man returned to his country, built a house, bought a land, and lived the rest of his life in happiness and dignity.
The lesson from the story:
Corruption, even if it penetrates into palaces, must be exposed by those who have nothing but honesty and integrity. Greed drops its owners, and the sincere intention is raised until the poorest of people to the highest levels.
The boy who became a scientist because of his curiosity
In one of the small villages, there was a boy named Ahmed. He was a very curious child, asking about everything around him, so that the people of the village were finding him strange sometimes because of his many questions. He liked to watch the sky and clouds, and he always wondered why the weather changed and how the rain was formed.
One day, a strong storm occurred in their village, and the roads were filled with water. Ahmed noticed how some places were flooded with water, while other places remained dry. He could not stop thinking about the reason for this, so he started searching and asking his teacher at school, but he did not find an answer that satisfies his curiosity.
Ahmed decided to study more about the weather, so he started reading the books available in his school, then moved to the city library when he grew a little bit. He was sitting in hours reading about the climate and meteorology, until a young man had wide knowledge in this field. He received a scholarship for his superiority, and traveled abroad to study meteorology.
Years later, Ahmed returned to his country as a meteorologist, and began developing an early warning system that warns the villages of floods and storms before they occurred. Thanks to his efforts, his village and neighboring villages managed to avoid many natural disasters that were caused by heavy rains and torrents.
The lesson from the story:
Curiosity and love of learning can lead the person to achieve great achievements, even if it starts with a simple question. Never reduce the value of your curiosity, the key to your success may be in the future!
